ARTIST STATEMENT
Lynse Cooper

My practice is often a tribute.

My artistic practice often acts as a way to revere, memorialize, or honor those who are most important to me. My work concentrates on themes of death & grief, decay & preservation, loss, isolation, and memory. While historically, I have explored these themes through a domestic lens, I have recently begun to do so by photographing the natural landscape.

My practice is heavily research-based and I utilize a hybrid of image-making tools, including digital, analog, and cameraless photography, to render both figurative and abstract images. The resulting artworks construct narratives around friendship, family, representations of the body, and absence.
