SFC’s New Executive Director!

OUR MEMBERS HEARD IT FIRST!

San Francisco Camerawork is pleased to officially announce the appointment of Renaikha Cruz Fermin as Executive Director. Formerly a member of the Board of Directors, Fermin has been serving as SF Camerawork’s Interim Director since November 2024. She began in her new role as Executive Director earlier this year.

Renaikha 'Ren' Cruz Fermin (she/her) is a first generation, Latinx artist and administrator with a professional history spanning over a decade that includes work with the Tacoma Art Museum, The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco, and the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, as well as other non profit organizations, art and design companies, and events based industries. She is an accredited museum docent and attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago for Photography/Visual Arts under a Merit Scholarship.

“Taking on the role of Executive Director at SF Camerawork is both an immense privilege and a trusted responsibility,” says Fermin. "[SFC] has always been a forum for provocative ideas and creative discovery, and I’m here to build on that legacy. My focus will be on deepening that impact and strengthening our programs and partnerships to support the evolving role of image-making in shaping culture. We want our work to inspire a bold reinvestment in both artistic practice and public connection, reinforcing the power of images—and their makers—to change the world."
