SF Camerawork Relaunches with TAPE UP: The Members Show

SF Camerawork is pleased to announce its relaunch with a new Board of Directors and renewed commitment to artists, photographers, and the Bay Area arts community.

The organization will celebrate its return with TAPE UP: The Members Show, a salon-style exhibition featuring more than 100 artists from the SF Camerawork community. The exhibition celebrates the artists and members who have sustained the organization throughout its more than 50-year history.

An opening celebration and Members’ Party, open to everyone, will take place on Thursday, September 17, from 5–8 PM, in conjunction with the Fort Mason Fall Art Walk.

TAPE UP: The Members Show will be on view September 17–October 4, 2026, at SF Camerawork’s gallery at Fort Mason.

A New Chapter for SF Camerawork

Founded by artists in 1974, SF Camerawork has been a leader in contemporary photography, supporting artists and fostering experimentation, discovery, and exchange.

Following the announcement of its closure plans earlier this year, an extraordinary outpouring of support from the arts community has helped make the organization’s continuation possible.

The new Board of Directors is working to ensure a smooth transition and build a sustainable future for SF Camerawork. The organization has also secured $1 million in state funding over two years to support stabilization and continued operations.

“We are incredibly grateful for the extraordinary support we have received from the San Francisco arts community,” said Hal Fischer, Board President of SF Camerawork. “This relaunch is a testament to the importance of SF Camerawork and the deep commitment of our artists, members, supporters, and friends. We are excited to welcome everyone back and begin this next chapter together.”
