These photos were taken in downtown Los Angeles on March 15, 2021, at the Morrison Hotel.
In 1970, the Morrison Hotel was immortalized by The Doors' album of the same name. On the album’s cover, the band was photographed through the lobby window with the hotel’s painted signage serving as the album title.
In 2021, a fire was started inside the locked-up building. I could see the smoke from my apartment. I grabbed my camera, left the building, and walked toward the smoke. I got as close as the firefighters would allow, and click.
