Estimated Value: $375

I Want to Leave So Much Behind (formerly One Man’s Body), is a multi-year project with image making spanning from 2017 to 2020. Each year that I’ve worked on this project I’ve produced a limited-edition zine/art book comprising a selection of the work made that year. The items up for auction are a collection of all four of these limited-edition publications. The handmade zine from 2018, One Man’s Body and Vicinity, contains four separate but complementary zines to form a complete set from that year. Therefore the total auction set is 7 items.

About the Artist:
Nathan Cordova

Nathan Cordova lives in Tucson, AZ, where he is an MFA candidate in the photo, video, and imaging program at the University of Arizona School of Art. His work was featured in Forecast 2019 at SF Camerawork and he is an official selection for Review Santa Fe 2021. Nathan was raised in a family of storytellers and he uses photographs, diaristic writing, fictional archives, and oral histories to add his voice to this tradition.

His practice questions the legacies of Spanish colonialism, Catholic patriarchy, Manifest Destiny, and white supremacy, as well as their impact on his family and the American Southwest. His work makes visual these lasting legacies in order to deconstruct dominant culture and facilitate intergenerational healing. Nathan was mentored by Guggenheim Fellow McNair Evans from 2017 to 2019. He received his BA in journalism from the University of Oregon in 2007.
