This photograph was taken by Devin Allen during the Baltimore Uprising of 2015 following the death of Freddie Gray at the hands of the police. He was able to depict the violent uprising throughout Baltimore city streets. Devin is known to use black and white to provide contrast in his artwork. Being color-blind allows him to find comfort within the "lack of color." This image in particular is an expression of what many Black, Brown, and African American people feel on a daily basis when it comes to the police. The unknown is crippling to many, and the fear of the police is as real as it gets.
