Thoughts and Prayers is a response to the epidemic of gun violence in our country. Nearly every day there is a report of someone being killed unnecessarily by an individual with a handgun.
Thoughts and Prayers is the frequent condolence offered in the wake of gun violence. It has become a knee-jerk and wholly insufficient response. When the reports of yet another shooting became to be too much for me, I created Thoughts and Prayers in response.
In the handgun, the reference is obvious. The cross formed by bullets speaks to the complex and fraught relationship we have with weapons in our culture. The rosary beads represent hope.
