Ashley Ross, Who’s That Young Girl Dressed In White?, 2021

On Tuesday, May 10th FORECAST2021 artists Katina Alexopulos and Ashley Ross spoke about their projects, Los Muertos Nunca Mueren and 10/27/03. Alexopolus’s project processes grief and family history through a series of diptychs that address memory, family connections, and family history. Ashley Ross mines her family archive, presenting photographed documents layered with family snapshots alongside poetic staged black and white photographs. Katina Alexopulos

Katina Alexopulos is a film photographer based out of San Francisco CA. Whether she's photographing fashion editorials or documenting the streets, Katina's work focuses on topics pertaining to cultural, social, and personal identity. In 2019 she received a BFA in photography at the Academy of Art University with emphases in commercial photography and documentary film portraiture. ASHLEY ROSS

Ashley Ross currently works and resides in the Bay Area, CA. Her personal work explores familial legacy and cultural aspects of black existence. Through the use of family archives and allegorical portraiture, her work seeks to investigate and make connections between understanding how traumas and experiences contribute to and inform our identity.
