“I am a queer black person. As a descendant of the Southern slave trade, I’m flipping the script of patriarchy,” avows Beatrice Thomas. “Like the Black Panthers, I’m a protector of my community, claiming female power.”, from Jamil Hellu’s Hues Project 2019.

SF Camerawork will be open late on February 20th as part of Culture for Community, an alliance of Yerba Buena organizations uniting in celebration of Black History Month. Enjoy Jamil Hellu: Together and Natalie Krick: Rhymes of Confusion until 8pm!
