<image:caption>Jasmine Ross is a lens-based artist from Oakland, California, and a recent Yale graduate with a B.A. in Ethics, Politics, and Economics, and Art. Her fine-arts documentary photography explores themes of identity politics, intergenerational memory, and ancestral heritage, reflecting her perspective as a multiracial Black woman. Working primarily with medium and large format cameras, Ross embraces the slow, intentional process of analog image-making, where so-called failures become unexpected gifts. Her practice grounds itself in honoring community-builders, ensuring their contributions are acknowledged in their lifetimes. Ross’s debut group show, Tell It Slant at the Yale School of Art, documented the closure of Beauty Plus, a 31-year-old Black-owned New Haven beauty supply store. Alongside her artistic practice, she has gained extensive experience in fundraising and exhibition production through organizing her first independent solo show. Having navigated the inequities of the gallery world early in her career, Ross is committed to fostering more equitable outcomes for artists—an ethos that fuels her excitement to join SF Camerawork as Gallery Associate, where she looks forward to learning the business of art while supporting and uplifting fellow artists.</image:caption>
