In her series Representations, Cynthia Greig transforms everyday objects by whitewashing their surfaces and drawing directly onto them, creating what she calls “photographic documents of three-dimensional drawings.” Through this playful manipulation of perspective, Greig challenges the boundaries between photography, drawing, and sculpture, questioning how we perceive and interpret images.
Greig is an American artist whose conceptual photographic practice explores perception, illusion, and the relationship between objects and their representations.
This image is from the series Representations, in which Cynthia Greig draws directly onto everyday objects that she has whitewashed to create what she refers to as “photographic documents of three-dimensional drawings.” Greig’s work is held in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Light Work, Syracuse; George Eastman House, Rochester; Coleçao Foto Arte, Brasilia; the Museum of Contemporary Photography, Chicago, and numerous others.
