On Thursday, July, 15 SF Camerawork hosted an event on how to prepare and submit your photographic work for juried shows with Ann Jastrab and Judy Walgren. These two experienced jurors shared their insights on reviewing work and offered tips and pointers on how to craft a winning submission that stands out. This event also discussed FORECAST 2021 and answer commonly asked questions about the submission process.

ABOUT ANN JASTRAB
Ann Jastrab (she/her) is the Executive Director at the Center for Photographic Art (CPA) in Carmel, California. CPA evolved out of their predecessor, the renowned Friends of Photography. Before coming onboard at CPA, Ann was the gallery manager at Scott Nichols Gallery in San Francisco where she incorporated contemporary artists with the living legends of photography. Ann was also the gallery director at RayKo Photo Center in San Francisco for 10 years until their closure in 2017.
ABOUT JUDY WALGREN
Judy Walgren, a Pulitzer-prize winning photojournalist and former Director of Photography at the San Francisco Chronicle, is the associate director for the Michigan State School of Journalism, where she teaches photojournalism, documentary photography and immersive media. She is also the editorial director for the branded content company JujuPhoto. Other than at the Chronicle, Walgren has worked on visual staffs at the Dallas Morning News, the Rocky Mountain News and the Denver Post. She received an MFA in Visual Art from the Vermont College of Fine Arts and her research interrogates relationships between photography, historic archives and power structures.
