MEET GENESIS P-ORRIDGE & MARIE LOSIERSF Camerawork and Landmark Theatres are proud to host ground-breaking performance artist and music pioneer Genesis Breyer P-Orridge (Throbbing Gristle, Psychic TV) in a rare appearance on behalf of the upcoming film The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye. The film's director, Marie Losier, will also be in attendance. The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye is an intimate, affecting portrait of the life and work of Genesis Breyer P-Orridge and his other half and collaborator, Lady Jaye, centered around the daring sexual transformations the pair underwent for their "Pandrogyne" project. This event is free to the public. 7:30 - 8:30 pm MID RIFF PARTYStop by after work, enjoy a glass of wine, see our current exhibition, and check out everything else happening tonight during Mid Riff, The Bold Italic's latest microhood party focusing on Market Street between 6th and 7th. The area is home to impressive art spaces, one of the most beloved music venues on the West Coast, and great restaurants, bars, and shops. Co-presented by The Luggage Store, Hospitality House Community Arts Program, SF Camerawork, and the San Francisco Arts Commission, Mid Riff is an evening of discounted eats and libations, special deals, art openings, and live performances. This event is free to the public. 6 - 8 pm MEMBERS-ONLY CRITIQUEModerated by artist and Camerawork Education Director Erik Auerbach. Give your work the exposure it deserves at our monthly critique group! All photographic and video media welcome. Participating artists will have 15 minutes for presentation and discussion. Limit of 6 artists per session. Artists and art lovers alike are welcome to join the discussion. RSVP by February 14 to info@sfcamerawork.org and indicate the format of your work. Join now! 6 - 8:30 pm PROJECT MAKE L-O-V-E EXHIBITION & AUCTIONSF Camerawork is proud to host an inspiring community art project titled Make L-O-V-E. Local fashion photographer Daniel Castro will be unveiling nearly 300 portraits and a massive six-foot installation made up of hundreds of "Polaroid lips." See a "making-of" video here, and don't miss the one-night exhibition and benefit auction at SF Camerawork. Enjoy a cash bar with beer and wine, plus complimentary carnival-inspired eats provided by Straw. Individual photos and the L-O-V-E installation piece will be auctioned off to raise money for First Exposures, SF Camerawork's youth photography mentoring program.
